SMT inlet shutters are designed for use as fresh-air intakes for livestock housing and greenhouse. Full automation of ventilation components is becoming a standard feature of agricultural structures. Ventilation demand in such structures is always changing, creating the need to open and close fresh-air intakes regularly. The SMT inlet shutters are ideally suited for the automation of the opening and closing of such fresh-air intakes. Actuators provide the necessary opening or closing force, with various options available. Each SMT can be fitted with an actuator to allow for each of the SMT shutters to be opened or closed individually. In this instance the actuator is placed conveniently inside the frame of the SMT. Alternatively numerous SMT shutters can be linked together and then a central actuator can be used to open or close all the SMT shutters simultaneously. Different models of actuators are available to accommodate different types of control configurations, from simple open or closed to advanced where the degree of opening can be modulated. As an option, the SMT shutters can be fitted with guard meshes to prevent the wild animals or birds from entering the structures while the shutters are open. If needed, the SMT shutters can easily be combined with LFD light filters to prevent direct sunlight from entering the structure when the shutters are opened. For a complete climate control package, the SMT shutters can also be combined with other products from Munters, such as Euroemme® fans and Munters climate controllers.

Munters IW Inlet Canopy can be mounted on the exterior walls of a building to cover the air inlet openings. By doing this, several problems commonly observed with the use of inlets are solved. The IW Inlet Canopy creates a brown out effect inside the house while the inlets are open thereby improving animal behaviour and making light control inside the building easier. The IW Inlet Canopy provides protection without disturbing airflow. The life of the inlets themselves is extended because the inlets are protected from environmental elements and direct sunlight. By covering the complete inlet opening, heavy rain is prevented from entering the building through the inlet openings, which eliminates unwanted wet spots inside the building.

IW air inlets are designed to be used as wall mounted air inlets in livestock structures. A critical time for ventilation of livestock structures is during cold periods, when it is necessary to ventilate the structures to supply fresh air to the animals without causing cold drafts over them, a process commonly known as minimum ventilation. The only way of performing minimum ventilation effectively is by directing the cold fresh air along the ceiling of the structure so that it can mix thoroughly with the hot air inside the structure before it descends into the occupied zone of the animals and replaces the stale air. Failure to perform minimum ventilation effectively could cause a build-up of noxious gases, such as ammonia or carbon dioxide, inside the structure; or, a fatal reduction in oxygen levels. Another problem commonly associated with ineffective minimum ventilation is cold air dropping onto the animals, causing wet litter and disturbing animal behaviour. The IW air inlets are designed to perform minimum´ventilation perfectly; maintaining a healthy environment for the animals without disrupting normal animal behaviour during warmer periods the emphasis of ventilation shifts towards heat removal and cooling of the animals. In such conditions the air entering the structure can be directed downwards towards the animals, allowing heat removal from the animals’ skins through a wind chill process. Once again the IW can be adjusted to ensure that the air reaches the animals.
